Sherbet Dreams Quilt

This is the quilt that did it, the quilt that actually made me love pink. I want to keep it all to myself I love the colours so much. I used fabrics from simpatico by cloud 9, fabrics from Nursery Versery by Heather Ross, a bit of Out to Sea by Sarah Jane with random fillers thrown in.

The organic fabric of cloud 9 and the cotton/linen fabric from heather ross was a dream to work with so soft and yummy.
I used cotton couture solids for the first time and they felt to me even softer then the organic fabric I will be buying and using this line much more.

As usual I cut out double the fabric I actually needed so I know I'll be making another quilt with these same colours maybe a half square triangle or something along those lines.

my husband was helping me take photos and I think I got 5 before he started fooling around. He thinks he is sooo funny.

Bow tie goodness

Yum yum yum I love a cute bow tie so when a friend of mine told me how much her son LOVES bow ties(funny story is that he loves to wear them as all the ladies make comments on how cute and handsome he looks:)) I had to give the Prudent baby tutorial that I had pinned to my pinterest a go.
I followed the instructions for the double fold tie. It was super easy to follow and once I started a production line time flew by. I caught up on Grimm (such a great show cant wait till it comes back from the short break) and next thing I knew I was up to the neck strap.
My friends son is 9 but weighs more then I do (not very hard as I'm a stick of a thing) so the first strap I made only just fit my neck, so back to the sewing machine to make a strap 15inches long. I didn't attached the bow to the strap so that trendy young man can swap the bows around whenever he feels like it (it also saved me a lot of money as in a rush I could only find the bow tie hardware from spotlight for $3). I'm so excited to hear what he thinks of them and I'm looking forward to making more. Next time I will add the little tabs to the sides to make it look more like a traditional tie but put clips on the back of the ties so they can just clip on.

Simply a treasure box

I am in LOVEEEEEE with this quilt. I love everything about it, the front, the back, the binding, the quilting, everything. I do wish I wouldn't take pictures on an overcast morning thought :).

The colours are from the awesome line by V and Co Simply Color. A perfect line to work with. I followed the instructions from TracyJay Quilts. I made the blocks using charm squares rather then a layer cake. The quilt needed two patterned charm square packs and one white charm square pack with a tiny bit extra white bella solids to match (not enough for another charm pack).

The instructions were simple to follow if a little hard to find on the website. I quilted just around the outside blocks and I am so glad that I didn't do more than that. The quilt is so soft and fluffy and I haven't even washed it so I cant wait.

I wish my local quilt shop put the fabric details on the receipt as I have no idea what this fabric that I used for my backing is called. I love the little starfish and am so glad that I picked it rather than a solid. Now the binding is another story. I seriously spent about an hour auditioning fabrics for the binding and the ones that I loved were either pink (which I didn't want as I wanted the quilt to be more gender neutral, or a fabric that I didn't have enough of). The yellow was sitting right next to the sewing machine (and where I have my laptop for movies) the whole time and when I finally cracked it and started to download more of beauty and the beast there was the yellow sitting right next to me. GahHH!!! and it was perfect :)

Baby Kimono

I am in love with this little baby shirt! It is so super easy to make and looks totally adorable when finished. I made the first one on a whim when a friend asked me to make up some things for a new baby.
The pattern is from purl bee and is simple and easy to follow, took me about an hour to make and only because the binding is kinda fiddley but is so worth it. So I had to go and make another one.
It was a horrible rainy day outside so I had to take pictures inside. But playing around with the editing on flickr and fell in love with this colour change, I must start stamping on denim!! This shirt is for my one day baby :)

and to leave you with this cute little picture :)
