Half square triangle man quilt

Half square triangle man quilt

So yeh!!!!! I have finally finished the quilt top for Mr lamb&george. I am never going to do another half square triangle quilt again :). (Well I do have some completed left over squares so i'll be making a baby size quilt as well). It was painful to say the least but so worth it in the end.

Quilt top for half square triangle
I had trawled the web to find the easiest way to complete the patterns and the easiest tutorial to follow was over at psiquilt. Very easy to follow but never knew how much hard work it would be. I cut out 5' squares and after trimming back the completed half square triangle I ended up with 4 1'2' squares. Make sure that you keep the final measurements in mind or you will end up with not enough completed squares and have to make more.

I set up the fabric on my bed before i even started sewing the top so that i would know the exact pattern and the colours would flow.
I started out on the floor but once I saw my dog looking at it like it was a new bed I moved to the bed :)
I start on the back tonight. I don't want anything too busy who I can show off the quilting but I also don't want a blank slate so its boring. Off to trawl the web for ideas.

Pete the pirate and Kai the ninja

So peeps to follow on with my last post. After making my nieces the dolls, my nephew wanted to know why he couldn't have one. Now I had to think long and hard about something cool that he wouldn't think was lame and girly seeing as he is 8. And I had the perfect idea, what about a pirate?

He loved this little pirate but he really wanted a ninja (I loved it as well and wanted to keep it for myself). I had to think long and hard about this one as I knew this one was going to be a bit hard.

Lego Ninjago Kai.
Just thinking about the face covering gave me a headache so I bought him a Kai shirt for his birthday and said sorry no go. After that every time I saw him he tried to make a deal with me to do the ninja. I didn't get anything out of this deal, the crafty little bugger, but I gave in and said I'll give it a shot.

After cracking it at the quilt I was making for my husband (more on that later) I thought I would give it a serious go. I used one of the wee wonderfuls patterns (yes I am in love with that book :)) changed it up a bit and ta-darrrr it was done. After the list of things that I had to make sure to include such as the lion and the belt, I'm so glad that I had a lot of the fabric spare from other projects so I was able to make the accessories. I must have been kicked in the face 20 times by ninja kai in my nephews hands so I knew he must have loved it. Woot Woot!!!!! (again got too excited about giving kai to my nephew that I only took a picture on my mobile.

Wee Wonderfuls

Hello my lovelys.

I'm Esther and I LOVE anything that keeps me busy (away from the boring reality TV shows that my husband loves to watch). I am just starting out in the world of blogs and want to show you all the fun things that I have made and share a little of my life with you.
Recently I decided to give myself a break from quilting and make some dolls for my nieces. I bought the wee wonderfuls book and patterns by Hillary Lang and I have not stopped. I used her Kit Chloe and Louise pattern to make some beautiful dolls,
I just can't seem to stop. These patterns are so easy to follow and so fun to make. More to come :)

I wish that I had gotten better pictures but I just get so excited to give the girls their dolls that I forget all about taking a picture with anything but my phone.

Edit: I have found the pictures of the other dolly so here they are.
This doll was made to match her human friend with brown eyes and beautiful long brown hair, with her fav colours of pink and purple.

I have used the same pattern for all of these dolls. If you love making special somethings for kiddies then you really must get this book.
